Hey people of the Internet! Today I want to write about music.
Music plays a major role in my life, I’m listening to it this very moment, while I’m writing. I listen to it everyday almost all the time. I’m kinda addicted to it. My mum says I live with my earphones on, and she’s kinda right. When I’m at home I spend most of my time in my room, doing various stuff (reading, writing or just surfing on the web), and while I do that I listen to music. The only moment when I’m alone and I’m not listening to music is when I study, to focus I need absolute silence.
I usually listen to rock/alternative music, it’s my favorite genre. Some of my favorite bands are “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, “Foo Fighters” and “Pearl Jam”. I listen to music mostly for the lyrics, the beat has to be good too, but if a song has a good beat, but bad lyrics, I won’t listen to it regularly.
Sometimes while I listen to music I get goosebumps or a “shake”, I love it when a song makes me feel different emotions and more than everything it makes me feel them on my skin. To be one of my favorites a song needs to “touch my soul”.
I always listen to the same music, I’ve got a playlist with like 95 songs in it and I almost always listen to that.
We have Google home at home and one I was listening to “Dream On” by “Aerosmith” and my mum heard it and told me it was of her favorite songs and that it was a “song for old people” and I replied something like: “You should know that I listen to music for old people”. Obviously, I was joking, but it was kinda true, most of the songs I listen to are old songs and nowadays most of the teenagers listen to almost only rap music, or something down those lines, but very few listen to rock music.
As you may know, I’m Italian, but I almost never listen to Italian music, in my playlist there isn’t even one Italian song. I don’t really know why, maybe it’s because I hear Italian all-day and I don’t want to listen to it while I’m relaxing or I want to stay alone, maybe listening to songs in English makes me feel externalized from the world or community I live in and that kinda makes me feel more relaxed.
That’s all for this post, what type of music do you listen the most to? Is music a significant part of your life? How does music make you feel? Let me know in the comments.
